Anchor Text and SEO – Role of Anchor Text in Search Engine Optimization

In SEO link-building is believed to be one of the most important factors. SEO expert’s job is incomplete without doing proper link-building to his or his client’s website. In link-building anchor text is known to be one of its major aspects.

In this post I’m going to write few things about Anchor Text. So, what us an Anchor Text? The Anchor text is a text masking the link or it can be described as a label for link or clickable text in a hyperlink. That means So if I linked to my other blogs or websites TechInfo Blog, where “TechInfo Blog” is anchor text.

Most people used to think Anchor Text is nothing but a way to hide link with better text but in fact it is one of the biggest reason which decides your ranking in SEO.

What Makes Anchor Text Special in SEO

Since you understand each back links to your website is like a vote. The number of back links increases to your pages is getting ranked the highest by Google. But the back link is not alone the reason decides your ranking, on-page SEO also matters. And you should know that, not all back links are equal and gives you ranking.

Anchor text will help you to boost your ranking in Search Engines because Search Engine Spiders or Bots get a better understanding of what the linked page is about. With good anchor you can increase the ranking strength of your content for particular word or phrase which is used in anchor text.

In link-building it’s all about creating inbound links. As I mentioned above every inbound link your website or blog receives, it is like a vote for that particular page or blog. Properly done inbound links will help to Search Engine Bots to land on your website using the links you left in other sites. This is where the Anchor Text comes helpful.

The Anchor Text on other websites not only gives you vote, but also tells search engines my vote for him for this category, product, service which is mentioned in Anchor Text. If you don’t give an anchor text, the search engine won’t know what keyword the landing page is targeting.

There are few things you must consider before do any link building. Try to avoid using Anchor Text like in below example. Pretend like the underlined words are Anchor Texts.

Having a lot of inbound links with proper anchor texts will help boost your websites overall rankings for particular keywords which is mentioned as Anchor Text. You should know that the Anchor Text and the linking page must have relevancy. Otherwise you will lose the ranking or your site will get banned for spamming. Don’t try to spam your anchor texts since it can affect your rankings negatively.
