Spam is all over the internet, spammers try chance to spam you in the way sending chain emails, lottery winning notifications, free international holidays, gift from apple etc. You may have noticed in most cases spam comes in the way of advertisement.
Have you ever wondered how those emails coming to your inbox or how did those spammers got your personal email ids? Well, they collect your email ids from online sources where you have already posted one. Let me explain you, Sometimes we may come across the situation where we necessitate of posting email address in places like Blog posts, forums or social media sites without thinking second. But sadly those emails copied by spammers and from that moment you will start receiving spam emails.
That is the only reason most of the advanced internet users concerned about posting their email ids online and always finding ways to post it safely. Today I’m going to show 2 great ways of sharing your emails online safely can be used by any novice users, so keep reading.
The two safest ways to share your email id online I’m taking about are:
- reCAPTCHA Mailhide [link: http://www.google.com/recaptcha/mailhide/]
- Scr.im antispam email sharing [link: http://scr.im/]
1. reCAPTCHA Mailhide
reCAPTCHA Mailhide is another service by reCAPTCHA a popular CAPTCHA code for blogs and websites. reCAPTCHA was acquired by Google in 2009. I’m using reCAPTCHA mail hide service since few years now and wanted to share this free and handy online tool using this article.
How To Use reCAPTCHA Mailhide:
Using reCAPTCHA Mailhide is simple, follow the steps below:

Visit reCAPTCHA Mailhide page. You will see a text box and Protect It! button on the page. Type-in the email ID you wish to protect and click on the button Protect It!, refer to below image.
Once you click on Protect It! button you will see a new page with two text box with code. One is for URL and another HTML code.
The URL one works like a link where you can add this code to a link where you can post your email address something like this:
URL: Click Here To See my Email ID. (Click on Here to revel my Email ID).
HTML: navi…@gmail.comOr the HTML code (see above example) will show you first three or four letters of your email ID and rest hidden.
If anyone wants to see your email ID they have to click on hyperlink part of email ID and a pop-up window appears with a CAPTCHA to revel the email ID (refer to below image).

2. scr.im
Scr.im is another email anti-spam tool which is completely different from the reCAPTCHA Mailhideand this is also convenient to use too. Lets see how it works.
How To Use scr.im Email Protector
Just visit Scr.im homepage, there you will see two text boxes one is for your email address and another your unique URL link. Fill your email ID in first text box, and here comes a tricky part before going to second text box you must think about something unique someone not taken yet, it’s not that difficult you can use text and numbers except special characters (refer to below image)

As I mentioned above this service is different from reCAPTCHA Mail Hide, it doesn’t need any code or script to add to your website or blog, just grab your unique URL. In my case my unique URL is http://scr.im/trythis.
Once you click on Protect my email you will receive sharing options for different websites like, Facebook, forums and HTML docs etc (Last Image). Now try clicking on my unique URL : http://scr.im/trythis . You will see the page similar to below image.
There is a humanity check which asks you to select block of letters on your right hand that is identical to the image on the left or you can try simple CAPTCHA entering method also by clicking “Something broken with your browser? Try the failsafe CAPTCHA mode” in the bottom of the screen.

That’s it. Now you can share your email IDs without worrying about spam and spammers.

Thanks, I really do hate spam from accidentally revealing my e-mail online.
Yes icechen1, Once the mistake done by revealing emails online then you will keep reciving spams.
Awesome programs! The damages already done in my case – I receive a harsh deal of spam every day. Gotta try to Mailhide for my website tho, seems great.
Thanks for sharing.

Sure things to try Forsberg. Thanks for droping a comment
Thanks for the comment Forsberg, I useally share my email online by masking ‘@’ symbol to [at], it helps somehow. But the apps I listed above are fantastic and you can reduce your spam by 80%.
While signing up on sites, which is a common source of emails getting shared/leaked – I use disposable email addresses. These are short lived emails, usually 10 min – 1 hour, which are self destructed. e.g. would be http://10minutemail.com
