How to Extract Email ID From WordPress Blog Comments Using phpMyAdmin
Email marketing is one of the straight forward and secure ways to market yourself and your blog. To start Email marketing you need a lot of emails or at least 50-100 emails. Getting such number of emails is not an easy task for anybody. Building email list is another hard work. You can use subscribing widget on your blog’s sidebar or footer to get subscribers, but it will take time.
There is another legit and safeway you can build hundreds of thousands of email address list. If your blog is getting good number of comments you can extract and use those approved commentators email id for your Email marketing purpose. In this post I’m going to show you how to extract email address from comments in WordPress using phpMyAdmin.
Read below points first!
- Don’t spam emails, you may lose your good reader for that reason.
- If you dont know what you are doing, please do not try. You can ask your host’s support team.
- Editing or deleting the tables of mySQL database canot be undone. If you delete important table, your blog may goes down and you may need to reinstall WordPress again.
- We tested this method to extract emails from phpMyAdmin before we post this article, however we can’t be held responsible for any damage that might occur to your Blog!.

Ok Lets start:
Step 1: Open phpMySQL using Your WP Blog Hosting Control Panel
Open your phpMyAdmin control panel using your hosting account. phpMySQL control panel looks similar to below image. From cp select your WordPress database.
Step 2: Open Table wp_comments>
Open table wp_comments by clicking on left panel or just running the following sql script in SQL:
SELECT * FROM `wp_comments` LIMIT 0 , 30
Step 3: Sort Comments by Approved
Sort comments by approved using sort menu. Select comment_approved (Ascending) in Sort by key from left corner.Or run the following script in SQL.
SELECT * FROM `wp_comments` ORDER BY `comment_approved` ASC LIMIT 0 , 30
Scroll down till you see export option. Click on Check All, click Export link.
- New page will open and from new page (Exporting rows from “wp_comments” table) , select Custom – display all possible options from Export Method.
- From Format select CSV for MS Excel.
- Select checkbox Put columns names in the first row.
- Select Excel edition: (Your OS).
- Click on GO
That’s it. Now you have excel sheet full of email IDs.
