Geo Targeting means a method of delivering the website contents to the visitors based on his IP address, Location , ISP and other Geographical information. Let’s say you have a website with tld (Top Level Domain) .net or .com and and you would like to target the visitors from India.
If you have Country-specific domains, like .fr, .in, .uk or .us are already associated with a country or region and those will appear in country specific search. But it’s not possible with tld’s like .com or .net. To appear in SERP of Country-specific results Google Webmaster tools have an option called “Geographic target” in Settings tab.
Using this option webmaster can let his websites available in the specified countries search engine results. In this article I will show how to target visitors from specific countries for your website.
Step 1
Login to Google Webmaster Tools and click on Site configuration and then Settings from the left menu. Now you will see a page similar to the below image:

Step 2
Once you are in the Settings page click on General settings tab (this will be selected by default)
- In the first option Geographic target select the check box “Target users in” and then select the country you would like to target your website and click on Save button. In my case I’m targeting users from India so I select India.

- That’s it, Just a simple setting, but a worth doing. Your website is now targeting most of the users from the Specified country.
Note: SEO and Content make more difference so, do not just depend on the Geo-Targeting, try to improve your site’s SEO.
As per google it might take 24 to 48 hours to update all the servers worldwide.
