Increase Adsense CTR – Adsense CTR or Click through Rate or Cost per Click is the percentage which decides how much money adsense publisher gets when his visitor clicks on the ads. You must know that, the adsense CTR is directly proportional to adsense earnings. There is no hack can be done to Increase Adsense CTR or decrease Adsense CTR rates because its directly depends on the topics or niche of the blog, keywords you are targeting, themes, design and layout used in the blog, ad placement, on page optimization and other unknown factors.

In Adsense blog Google says :

“Due to the dynamic nature of Google AdSense, fluctuations in your revenue will occur. Your earnings will depend on a number of factors, including the types of ads being served to your pages, the cost per click or cost per impression of these ads, and your users’ click through selections. Regarding ad placement – the best ad format varies from page to page. We’ve observed that, in general, wider ads perform better because of their reader-friendly format. We strongly recommend putting your users first when deciding on ad placement. Think about their behaviour on different pages, and what will be most useful and visible to them. You’ll find that the most optimal ad position isn’t always what you expect on certain pages.”

Increase Adsense CTR Legally

The adsense CTR always varies between 0.01% to 5.0% in most cases. I always advice not to cross your CTR more than 10% because Google may ban your adsense account due to high CTR (strange right?)

Well, in this article I’m going to show few implementations could Increase Adsense CTR (may be) and legally.

TIP# 1: Quality Content to Increase Adsense CTR

Yes! – “Quality Content”, If your blog has unique and quality content, automatically your CTR increases, but sometimes your CTR will be very high and your revenue is low, this is because of your low quality contents. When you have low quality contents low quality ads will be placed on your blog so the result your revenue drops. So when you have a quality content, that will keep your visitors on your blog, when you have more and more returning visitors your traffic will increase so the CTR. Concentrate on publishing quality content that provides value to your visitors. In Adsense, quality of content is the king. That’s how the popular bloggers earns in thousands. So quality of your post content dramatically Increase Adsense CTR.

TIP# 2: Proper Ad Placement to Increase Adsense CTR

From my personal experience, I know how proper ad placement was increased my CTR and my revenue too. I have published an article about how to do proper adsense ad placement in my previous article read it here. There is Google approved ad placement heat map which helps to Increase Adsense CTR.

TIP# 3: Do Experiments With different Ad Formats

This is a trial and error method; you have to try for different ad formats for few days on your blog until you get better CTR ads. From my experience text ads gives better CTR than Image ads. Its depend on what niche you are in. Text ads can be easily target to desired keywords which helps to increase adsense ctr.

TIP# 4: Blend it like Beckham

Blend your ad for better user friendly ads. Google let publisher to blend ads to match with blog theme colour (at least ). Match your ad text to your theme colour. I heard people saying default blue ad gives more CTR than the blended ads, I tried this method but I didn’t increase my CTR so went back to my blended ads.

TIP# 5: Adsense Section Targeting to Increase Adsense CTR

Adsense Section Targeting means targeting ads to your content or keywords. To target ads on your blog, you just need to need to do is to place the following tags before and after the content that you want to get targeted. If you are using word press self hosting blog insert below code just bellow </header> or end of header.php

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

and

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

at the top of sidebar.php

This tweak will increase your CTR if you have great targetted keywords in your post.

TIP# 6: Using Plugins to Increase Adsense CTR

This the plugin I never use but lot of my blogger buddies advice me, http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/quick-adsense/ you can download this plugin and start making experiments posting different types of ads to increase adsense CTR. I rarely recommend plugins. I prefer to tweak theme files instead of using plugins.

TIP# 7: Keep Experimenting

Keep experimenting and continue till you are satisfied with the tweaks you have done. You can also use adsense user panel to track your CTR changes. You should know that, your changes won’t increase your CTR overnight, but it might take 3-4 days to weeks. So follow those simple steps which helped me to increase my CTR so that you too increase adsense CTR.
