How To: Run Android 3.0 Honeycomb on Windows 7 Laptop – Android 3.0 AKA Honeycomb is a OS designed for Tablet. Google released SDK version of Android 3.0 to the developers to test its latest features. Motorola Xoom tablet is the first device to be released in Android 3.0 / Honeycomb OS.
As you know older Android versions like 2.2 and 2.3 are specially made for smart phones and which only supports smaller screen resolutions, but the latest Android 3.0 is only made for Tablets and it supports higher screen resolutions.
So, I thought of Emulating Android 3.0 on my laptop to test how it looks and to see the new features. Few months before I test Android 2.3 on my laptop but it gave me lot of problems. Android 3.0 is impressive, Very fast, Cool graphics. I managed to run on my windows 7 laptop and run it successfully. This make me write an article on my blog to let my readers know “how to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb on Windows 7″.

Step 1: First You need to download Android SDK to run Android on your laptop. The latest Android SDK is available here . SDK is available for 3 different packages Windows, Mac OS X (intel) and Linux (i386).
Step 2: Once the installation complete, launch the installer. Once the installation wizard starts which should like below image, or you will get error message if your computer or laptop wasn’t installed with Java SE Development Kit, so make sure you have Java SEDK is installed.
Step 3: Click on Next to Choose the destination folder, Choose Start menu folder in next step in Fourth step your installation completes. Click Next to continue.
Step 4: Installation Completes. Click on Finish, make sure that, the check box Start SDK manager is checked.

Step 5: Now the Android SDK manager starts and you may see the window like this, which depends on what are the packages you need. Now select the Accept all from right bottom of the window and click on Install.
Step 6: The moment you click on Install, the packages start download from Android FTP and it might take few minutes to hours depending on your internet speed. So go to kitchen and have 2-3 cups of coffee and back, still not downloaded take your dog a walk!
Step 7: OK, now the download is completed and you have confirmation on the screen, click Yes to restart ABD manager.

Step 8: Now you can see the installed packages. From the Android SDK and AVD manager click on Virtual devices from left menu.

Step 9: Click on New… button from the right menu, Create new Android virtual device window opens.
- Give a name to new AVD
- From the Target, select Google APIs (Google Inc.) – API Level 11 using stroller, must be at last in the list.
- In SD card vive some space, Recommended 10000 MB or as much you want ![]()
- Rest keep the default.
- And click on Create AVD.
OK, done your new AVD is created and Android 3.0 Honeycomb is ready to launch.
Step 10: Select the AVD you just created and click on button Start. The new windows popup and click on Launch.

Again, you need to wait for some minutes so, get another cup of coffee!
Once the Android 3.0 started running on your windows 7 computer you will see the first screen like bellow:
