1. Redlaser
Redlaser is used for scanning UPC and QR codes — or creating a brand new QR code. Any product with a UPC barcode can be scanned, from books to games and just about anything in between.
Once you scan a UPC, you immediately see a list of nearby and online retailers who sell the item and a price comparison. The app also scans QR codes, which are 2D codes that link you directly to a website or email address.
Geeks will be especially happy to learn that Redlaser allows users to generate and share their own QR codes from within the app.

2. iSky Gaze
iSky Gaze is designed for the astrology nerd. This application detects the user’s current location using the iPhone’s GPS capabilities and then tells him how to see various solar objects, such as the moon or a particular star.

3. Sci-Calc
Scientific calculators don’t come cheap, and they are cumbersome to carry around. Fortunately, we can all say goodbye to the stereotypical pocket calculator geek.

Whether you enjoy listening to technology related podcasts, or your favorite comedy podcast, this iPhone application makes it easy to keep track of all your favorite shows in one place.

5. Shazam
If you’ve ever been listening to a song and its title got stuck on the tip of your tongue, Shazam may be the answer to your prayers.
Open this app and hold it in the direction that a song is playing, preferably close to the speaker, and Shazam will detect the artist and song title.
With just the tap of your finger, you can be directed to the iTunes app on your phone and purchase the track on the spot.
